Melvin Reeds

I emailed Jon on the item and asked if he could select 3 reeds close to the strength and chanter fit I play. The reeds came in sooner than expected and it was almost like a plug and play item. All three reeds were crisp and at almost the same strength. Jon is the Bomb and so is ThePipersHut. They are my only go to site when I need anything for my pipes. they have very helpful with all aspects of my needs.

Melvin reeds

I've ordered lots of stuff from the Piper's Hut and their service is the reason I will continue to fill all my piping needs through them! The Melvin reeds were exactly as they were advertised: true in tone and with a great top hand!

Amazing reeds

I bought one of these reeds and liked it so much I purchased 2 more just in case. All three reeds work really well in my Colin Kyo chanter and McCallum B flat chanter. Excellent price and free shipping.

Melvin Pipe Chanter Reed

I have been buying pipe chanter reeds from the Piper's Hut for a number of years now and have never received a dud. Reeds have always been free-flowing and bright and at very competitive pricing. The Melvin reed was a win-win deal for me in that it was a plug-and-play reed that made my 90's Hardie chanter come alive.

Reeds were well packed and shipping was prompt. I haven't broken in the reeds from this shipment yet but my previous medium strength Melvin from Piper's Hut took about 6 hrs of blowing to break in and needed no manipulation to sound true. That's why ordered more medium strength Melvins!

A: The Melvin reed works quite nicely in the G1. It is a bright chanter to begin with and this reed works nicely...Very stable and true.

A: Both the Melvin or the Shepherd molded reed would work well in that chanter!

A: Absolutely yes. The Melvin works very nicely in McCallum chanters. They do require moisture to fill out and stabilize the top hand.
