Q: Should beginner get chanter in the key of A or B

A: Most practice chanters are in the key of B Flat. Some bands and instructors look for specific reed and practice chanter combinations to have everyone sound at the same pitch. If you are working on your own, it won't matter as much. If you are working with an instructor or in a group setting, I would check with the instructor.
