Made from durable plastic, it features wide spacing, counter-sunk holes, and includes a reed.
Q:
What are lengths of "standard" vs "long" practice chanters. And why? Are thy in different keys, do they sound different???

A:
The difference between the McCallum Pc2 (standard length) and the PC4 (long length) is all in the bottom section. The Pc2 is 9.75 inches and the Pc4 is 13 inches. The vast majority of the length difference is below the Low G hole of the Pc4. They are in the same key (the PC4 has sound holes at 9.75 inches). Some instructor prefer the longer version as it appears to be more like the bagpipe chanter in appearance. I recommend a standard length for shorter people and the longer chanter for taller. To me, this has everything to do with posture while practicing at the table.
