Nice chanter for children. Holes are much closer than adult sized chanter and fit my 9 year old son’s fingers pretty well. There were some manufacturing defects in the one I received (poly in the bore, blocking air from exiting from C down) but a quick ream removed the excess plastic and it works fine. It feels like a ‘real’ chanter and I like the countersunk holes so he can feel them and become comfortable with it. It’s definitely a practice instrument and not a toy. I feel that overall it’s a nice chanter to teach a child.

A: The overall length of the Pc1 is 16.5" the finger spacing is quite a bit tighter then that of the standard length practice chanter. This makes it pitch sharper the the standard length practice chanter.

Q: What is the pitch of a childrens practice pioeifmc callum?so is you play the note with 6fingers covered what comes out?, on the normal size chanter Bb,on the long A.what here?

A: The Child's Practice chanter's pitch can very greatly depending on the reed used. But it is considerably sharper than the other McCallum Practice chanters. The holes are closer together and the length is shorter making it sharper. The Dunbar child's practice chanter has the same finger spacing and length as there regular length practice chanter, just with a much shorter top piece.

A: For a typical boy of 11, I would go with the McCallum PC2, not the Childs length. The holes are closer together on the childs chanter and he would have to re learn the spacing. He should be just fine with the PC2.
