This pipe has 1 Bass, and 2 Tenor Drones like the Great Highland Pipe, a Poly pipe chanter with a cane chanter reed. The Drone Reeds are Plastic with inverted drone reed tongues. The Pipe comes with a Zippered Canmore bag, with moisture control, and gives you the option of using or removing, or altering the internal set up of this pipe.
The amazing thing about this pipe is the tone..they are very rich and vibrant in tone, very fun to play, and blend in very well with other instruments!!

I play Great Highland Bagpipes. What is the transition like to go from GHB to small pipes. What kind of bag and reeds does this come with? Since they are smaller do they take less air?

A:
The Folk pipes take much less air than the Great Highland Pipe, are much quieter, and are meant to be played indoors. They come with a Bannatyne synthetic pipe bag and custom made ezee drone reeds especially designed to work in the folk pipe.

A:
Small pipes used to specifically refer to a design of bagpipe that had 1 common drone stock holding the drones. The drones lay across your chest and traditionally are bellows driven. Typically you would play these sitting down. They are made to play indoors and are very quiet when compared to the Great Highland Bagpipe. Today, they are still referred to in that manner by some makers and can also generically be referred to any design of a quiet indoor pipe of any design. The Folk pipe is a McCallum specific product that is essentially is a miniature bagpipe with 3 separate drones and is lung driven…made to be played indoors. The Fire Side pipes is a Gibson specific product that is also essentially is a miniature bagpipe with 3 separate drones and is lung driven…made to be played indoors.
