This May be the least restrictive blowpipe on that I have tried.

The round mouthpiece is threaded with a 30TPI thread onto the body which accomodates all mouthpieces included in the range of bagpipes from R.G. Hardie and is commonly used by other bagpipe makers.

The MaxiStick has an integral valve assembly which will allow the valve to be replaced when necessary. To access the valve unscrew the hemp part below the projection mount. We recommend smearing Vaseline on the valve for a better seal.

Great wide bore blow pipe that looks nice

Nice wide bore. I like it because it looks like an original piece - not like a ridiculous wide airstream. I also love how the valve is protected from impact, yet easily replaceable. Only thing is, I don't know where to buy a replacement valve, shouild this one ever fail.

Q: Just want to make sure what length I am measuring. Do I measure the entire length of the blowpipe? Or just the length of the smooth portion? I just want to be sure. Thanks!

A: When you measure for a replacement blowpipe, you will measure it from the bottom of the projecting mount (not including the hemped area that fits into the blowpipe stock) to the tip of the mouthpiece!!!

A: You can use the Airstream blowpipe replacement valve with this.

Q: Does the MaxiStick blowpipe come with the mouthpiece? If not, then it is safe to assume that the length selection is for the blowpipe only?

Q: Just want to confirm that a standard McCallum bagpipe mouthpiece will screw onto the MaxiStick blowpipe.

A: It is very close. You would need to build up the threads on the maxi stick a but with teflon tape, but that should do the trick!

Q: Just want to make sure this will fit my McDougall pipes, circa 1880-1900? Likely the one without the imitation ivory.

A: Yes, this will work with your bagpipe! I would suggest the black projecting mount as I don't think that the imitation ivory will come close enough to match the mounts on your bagpipe.

A: The blowpipe is measured from the bottom of the projecting mount (not including the hemped piece that goes into the stock) to the tip of the mouthpiece. We don't have a swab, but the chanter brush will do a fine job!
