They are used by both solo and bands and suit all modern chanters.

I prefer this reed to work in the Naill Bagpipe chanter. It produces a great Piobaireachd High G and is full bodied.

I tried this reed in my McCallum chanter because Emma McCallum said they were designed specifically for the McCallum chanter. It played nicely right from the start and at the pitch I was hoping to obtain. This chanter has a larger bore and some reeds seat too deep. The MacPhee was correct from the start. No added hemp and the tone is wonderful.

I bought this reed after seeing it was recommended for my McCallum Ceol chanter. Dropped it in right out of the box and the only adjustment I needed to make was a quarter turn deeper into the reed seat. Perfectly tuned to the chanter. I didn’t have to add any tape whatsoever. Produces wonderful harmonics against my drones. My new go to chanter reed.

Q: will this chanter reed work and tune in a A440 chanter?

Q: I am looking for an easy/medium MacPhee reed, if they are easy I overblown or they only last a couple of weeks I am a tweener. I use them for solo but also for practice rather than my spot on band reed which I save for band performance and practice. Can you help me? M
