Questions and Answers
Concert A 440 will require some work on drone reeds to get the bagpipe in tune at that pitch. Many use the Drone Reed extenders to achieve a lower pitched drone. Sole options are available on request.
Q:
Hi, Which reed would you recommend for this A440 chanter? I ask as I'm manufacturing Medieval bagpipes that play at A440. We use the Shepherd moulded reeds, but from experience the Shepherd reeds tend to be too sharp and cause compromises in the tuning of the chanters.

A:
I like to use a B Flat reed with these lower pitched chanters. The Melvin B Flat and Shepherd B Flat work nicely!
