Based on our hugely popular original set design, Canning Blue is made using a new body material that provides increased vibrancy and brightness. Volume is also slightly increased in most sets of pipes. The reed body does not absorb any moisture so can be very quickly and easily dried off during longer playing sessions, therefore extending your playing time.

Happy camper

As a user for years with the Canning bass drone reed i decided to give the new Canning blue a try. Out come was very good . Very air efficient and a nice bold sound in my McCallums. Very happy with the sound. Thanks to the Pipers Hut for the great service.

Drone Reeds

I have had these since they came out. Love these reeds. The only issue I have is they tune very high on the tenors. Almost too high. I have added hemp so they don't go in the stocks so deeply and that has helped. They have a great tone and blend. Can play them for about 1.5 hours before they start to choke out.

Q: Can I purchase just two Canning Blue tenor drone reeds?

Q: My band tunes at 478. My older cnnings have needed to have most of the hemp removed to gat the drones to tune without setting them too far away from the pins. Are these designed for the higher pitches?
