Driflo
I really want to love this product but, I have had to dry the beads in the oven twice and I have been using the system for about 3 weeks. Might be more trouble than it is worth. That being said they are great for keeping the reeds dry but do nothing for your chanter reed so I have kept using a bottle trap on the blow stick and it solves that problem.

Q:
How do you take the end caps off to empty the crystals? I'm trying a butter knife, and only succeeded in starting to stretch the plastic pipe...

A:
In order to remove the Dri Flo System, you would pull on the elbow that inserts into the rubber cup, leaving the rubber cup attached to your drone stock. Once you have the tube holding the crystals with the elbow on the tube, you would then remove the cap off of the other end of the tube. I find that by pinching the tube a bit that it makes it easier to pop off the cap. Then empty the crystals into an oven safe plate and put them into a very low temp oven until the moisture is evaporated from inside the crystals.

A:
After you have played your pipes, with the gels in the tube, and you notice that you have moisture forming on your drone reeds, you will need to remove the tubes, remove the gels from the tubes, place it in a sheet pan and place the pan in an oven set on a low heat in order to evaporate the moisture collected in the gels. This is better then using a microwave which will make the gels crack due to heating the water to quickly

Q:
Okay, after lengthy experimentation, I finally came up with a technique to get the caps off. I went to YouTube and added my solution to the Comments beneath their instructional video for this product. That was so that other people unable to use the caps could enjoy success using their product. I see that they have now hidden the comments!! The reason I know that is because, after getting the caps off, my next step was installing the flexible tube caps onto my stocks. Could not do that either! Probably more difficult on my pipes, since they are MacLellans (very thick everything, including stocks), and because I'm a female installer. After about a half-hour of experimentation, I figured out a way to get the rubber caps onto the stocks. My hands are exhausted, but it worked. So I went back to the video to add how to do that, for benefit of other female pipers and people with big stocks, and that's when I discovered my earlier Comment was hidden and I could not communicate any more! Well, that's just silly. If other people receiving the problem have the same troubles I've experienced, they will either break the pieces trying to do what I did, or just get frustrated and issue a return, and then talk badly about the product to their fellow pipers!!! It would be a lot smarter to preserve my comments (which were entertaining), and let me add the solution for how to install the rubber caps. Please pass this opinion on to Bannatyne or whoever might have posted that video. I think they

Q:
I bought the bannatyne dri-flo system about 1 yr ago. I don't use the rubber cups, but have hemped the ends and put them directly into the stocks. I also use a bannatyne bottle water trap. For some reason my drone reeds are now getting very wet and are extremely unstable as a result. This happens within 5 minutes of my beginning to play. I don't play that often so I know the gel is dry. Any suggestions on what I can do? Thanks.

A:
You will need to place the Gels in a low temp. oven to dry the gels out.
